Limone sul Garda

El nombre de Limone recuerda a todos los turistas que llegan en este lugar pintoresco las frutas del limón que crecen realmente aquí: la guía de la ciudad dice que éste es el lugar más norteño en donde estas frutas crecen.
La verdad es el nombre deriva probablemente de un término antiguo ' limo' , ' lemos' , ese árbol de olmo de los medios, o del ' latino; limes' , ésa es frontera, entre el área de Brescia y la jurisdicción del obispo de Trento.
Hasta los anos 40 la ciudad era aislado y accesible solamente a través del lago o a través de las montañas. La construcción del camino de Gardesana (terminado en 1932) rompió este aislamiento y trajo un desarrollo turístico del área.
